Today, we shine the spotlight on Olav Munch, a BNCC member and appointed honorary consul for Brazil in Bergen. Olav’s journey, from his upbringing in Bergen to his extensive experience in the marine industry and his current role as the CEO of Grieghallen, exemplifies dedication, leadership, and a profound connection between Norway and Brazil. Let’s delve deeper into Olav’s story and achievements.

Olav Munch, a Bergen native, holds a master’s degree in marine technology from the Norwegian Technical University (NTNU) and has spent 25 years in shipbuilding and marine industries. As the CEO of Grieghallen, Bergen’s premier concert and conference venue, Olav has transformed it into a cultural landmark that hosts the renowned Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and major conferences.

Prior to Grieghallen, Olav served as CEO of TTS Marine, a globally recognized shipbuilding company that achieved listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange under his leadership. His versatile background and exceptional management skills make him a respected figure in various industries.

What makes Olav an valuable member of the BNCC is his connection with Brazil through his previous role as CEO of Friele, Norway’s leading coffee brand. His extensive travels to Brazil’s coffee-producing regions, particularly Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais, have forged strong ties between Olav and the Brazilian community. This firsthand experience has solidified the bond between Norway and Brazil, with Brazilian coffee playing a crucial role in Friele’s products.

Beyond his professional achievements, Olav has been actively involved in the Bergen Chamber of Commerce, serving as its chairman for three years. Currently, he is the chairman of Bolaks Group AS, a fish farming company. His dedication to fostering international relations and his role as the honorary consul for Brazil in Bergen further amplify his influence as a bridge builder between cultures.
