The Norwegian Government’s Brazil Strategy – Theme Meeting on Trade and Commerce

On November 8th the Norwegian Ministries of Trade and Commerce and of Oil and Energy arranged the 2nd Theme Meeting of the strategy development process. The theme was trade and commerce. More than 100 people attended, both from private business, trade associations and NGOs.

Chairing the meeting, in his opening remarks the President of BNCC thanked the participants for all input to the strategy received so far, but pointed out that in this meeting the focus should be on solutions, not challenges.

The meeting saw the presence of 3 Deputy Ministers, stressing the importance of Brazil and recognizing the opportunities for Norwegian expertise in the Brazilian economy. Some of the different means available to assist Norwegian business in Brazil, like Innovation Norway, GIEK and INTSOK, were presented, followed by a session on research cooperation possibilities with Brazil.

Workshops on offshore/maritime, renewable energies/environment and general industry concluded the meeting.
