Aage Thoen has been with the Brazilian Norwegian chamber of commerce since 2005 and was elected chairman in 2019. Thoen has a 30 years career within banking, shipping and offshore. He holds BSBA and MBA degrees and is trained as a banker. Thoen held leading positions in DNC and Aker AS, and executive positions as President of the Lorentzen Skips Group and Star Reefers Inc, London.
Moreover, he also has elective board positions such as Chairman of Bank2 and NYK-STAR Pool Inc and member of the Boards of Privatbanken ASA, Ivaran Lines AS, DSND ASA and lastly past board member of the Norwegian Shipowners Association and currently Chair of Oslo Shipowners association.
Rafael de Souza is the Executive Director of BNCC. He works with the board to develop strategies aiming at promoting the chamber’s mission and objectives. Rafael is responsible for overseeing all operations and activities, including creating and maintaining relations of trust within members, partners, and external authorities.
Rafael’s career can be split in two parts. Firstly, he was an executive in the financial markets, both in Brazil and in the USA. Then, after a five-year professional experience in the USA (Bank of America), he went back to Brazil to become a university professor and consultant. He is a specialist in startup design and development and has a very strong financial background. He speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and Norwegian.
