The Jotun Group is one of the most international Norwegian companies, represented in all continents of the world and has been a leading manufacturer of paint, coatings and powder coating for more than 90 years.
Jotun opened their new paint factory in Rio de Janeiro in November 2015 in a quite different market than what was forecasted when the project was approved and started in 2010.
Mr. Salvesen engaged the audience with more than 25 members and 4 board directors of BNCC, sharing the values, the principles and the challenges that Jotun has been facing in Brazil. The audience appreciated the histories of lessons learned by Jotun’s team from building a factory in Rio de Janeiro. Appealing discussions took place with open Q&A during the presentation.
Although the factory in Rio has been one of the most challenging projects of the history of the company so far, Mr. Salvesen shared a positive experience of how Jotun is dealing with the current market in Brazil.
They are following the opportunities that are in the market, instead of being only focused on the initial plan, that was the marine industry. Following Jotun’s values with long-term thinking. This has been the key to achieve success in many countries, according to Mr. Salvesen.
