Breakfast meeting BNCC and Selmer AS

On September 14th BNCC and its member Selmer AS received a group of more than 50 people to a breakfast meeting with 3 presentations about the transitory situation which Brazil is facing after the corruption scandal in the oil giant Petrobras.

thumbnail_fullsizerender-2First, Einer Braathen, a researcher professor at the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) shared the actual situation in Brazil. He highlighted that despite the Brazilian GDP per person has down by 20% since its peak in 2010, the finance industry is still booming in the country.

At Norsk Hydro ASA’s presentation about compliance measures in Brazil, Hydro’s Senior Vice President and head of Energy Commercial, Tor-Ove Horstad explained how does the company takes part in building the economy of state where Hydro is based in Brazil, Pará by investing and spending there and creating more than 8500 jobs in the area. He overviewed the main compliance risks and the corruption and human rights issues in Brazil, approaching Hydro’s experience.

To close this interesting seminar, Thomas Brandi and Helge Kvamme, partners at Selmer law firm gave an update of the “Lava Jato” investigations and assessed how does business opportunities have been created by focus on business ethics in Brazil.
