Brazilian delegation visits Stavanger to study port operations and meet Norwegian customers

On November 10th a Brazilian delegation visited the port of Risavika outside Stavanger to learn about Norwegian competence in developing and operating commercial ports. The background for the visit is the planned investments in ports and related infrastructure both for general cargo and offshore support services. The visit was organized by Greater Stavanger with BNCC as support.

The delegation comprised officials from federal and state governments, port companies, Petrobras and agents. Following an orientation by the port of Risavika and the NorSea Group, a workshop chaired by the President of BNCC focused on Petrobras’ needs for supply base facilities and the experiences Norwegian companies like Teekay, DOF, Bergen Group and K.Lund Offshore have with port operations and custom clearance in Brazil. The present bureaucracy and complex documentation processes were highlighted.

In response the Brazilian Secretariat of Ports gave a presentation of status and plans for port developments. See presentation below.  A presentation of the efficiency improvement project “Portos sem Papel” (“Paperless Ports”) received from Kincaid Law in Rio is attached.
