The first annual edition of Brazil – Norway Cultural Week, held at the Embassy of Brazil’s Cultural Center was a big success.

The Brazil – Norway Cultural Week 2014 was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Brazil in Oslo, Council of Brazilian Citizens in Norway and Focus Brasil.

Ambassador Flavio Helmold Macieira and Minister Counsellor Francisco Chagas Catunda Resende opened the last night of the week, followed by the Brazilian actress Sildeia Corrêa’s interpretation of the poem “Canção do exílio” (“Exile Song”), by Gonçalves Dias.

During the evening the public learned about the work and projects developed by Brazilian writers around the word, including the project “Adote um autor” (“Adopt an Author”)

One of the highlights of the evening was the release of the Anthology “Ser Brasileiro” (“Being Brazilian”). The anthology was an initiative of the Embassy of Brazil in Oslo and has the aim to promote and share the experiences of Brazilians living abroad.

The week came to an end with the handing of the Brazilian International Press Awards to five nominees recognized for their efforts towards promoting the arts, culture and positive image of Brazil in Norway. Among the winners were BNCC Board members Celma Hellebust and Terje Staalstrøm, and BNCC member Maria Jose Maciel from Elo Cultural.
